Homeowners in Ashbourne, on the edge of the Peak District, were building their dream self-build property. They needed high-quality, traditional windows and doors that complied with local planning requirements while complementing the home’s heritage setting.
Solution: Bespoke Accoya Timber Windows and Doors
Patchett Joinery have been crafting premium timber windows and doors in Yorkshire since 1840. Utilising over 180 years of experience, we are perfectly placed to provide the full package – survey, manufacture and installation. This allowed the homeowners to focus on their wider self-build project, knowing their windows and doors were in expert hands.
We crafted and installed our full range of products on site, including:
- Entrance door with a bespoke surround portico
- Weights and Pulleys Sash windows with Georgian bars and bronze hardware
- A 3-leaf Bi-fold door with enhanced security features
- White French doors with polished brass hardware
We also debuted our Venetian Sliding Sash Window. Venetian Sash windows are divided into three and have one larger opening sash flanked by two smaller fixed sashes. Uniquely, the cord for the Venetian Sash runs through the top of the mullion, over pulleys and into the side boxings, allowing for slimmer mullions. This creates a unique design, adding to the charm of the property.
All of the windows and doors were crafted from Accoya, a Class 1 timber. Accoya is sustainable, versatile, durable and stable – it is guaranteed to last for 50 years (subject to exposure conditions), remaining structurally sound for decades to come. It also requires less frequent coating and maintenance compared to other types of wood.
We also used specific krypton-filled glass to increase the U-value of the windows. The higher the U-value, the better a material is at keeping heat in! It also allowed us to use a thin, traditional-looking glazing unit whilst providing the required U-value for building control.
Service: Bronze-Level, perfect for self-builds
The customer selected our Bronze-level installation package, which is perfect for self-builds, renovations and properties that are not currently being lived in.
This package includes a comprehensive survey, complete with both a manufacturing and installation assessment, measurement of internal and external reveals and templates for any shape work (if required).
Our CERTASS-certified installation team fit the windows and doors into position and sealed them using external mastics.
